Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal Pro  detects and removes all types of known viruses from any source-including e-mail attachments, Internet downloads, shared disks, CD-ROMs, and synchronization with your PDA. They also detect destructive ActiveX and Java applets, which are often downloaded without your knowledge while you browse.

Award-winning protection: Panda Antivirus Platinum makes a good work. Maybe not so advanced as Kaspersky, but does not slow down the system. A good choice.

My preference goes slightly to Kaspersky. It is slower but better.More expensive, but extremely effective. The software is powered by the most advanced technologies such as a behavior blocker and integrity checker which do not require anti-virus databases updating. There is a cheaper version but I would not recommend it too much. Less money, but not the same great protection.

There are other interesting antiviruses that you should consider: McAfee Viruscan (quite slow but excellent protection), Norton Antivirus, the most famous of the world (quite good, but sometimes slows down a lot the pc, especially at boot), Nod32 (quite good in protection, extremely fast in scanning the pc and in every operation, a great choice), Trend Micro PcCillin (fast in scanning, not a lot of resources used, very very interesting).

IMPORTANT: with both of them, you MUST keep 'live update' active, otherwise this kind of software becomes quite useless (since new viruses are discovered every week!). My overall preference is still for Norton, even if it messes up the pc, even if it may slow down the boot...
