7) Without touching ANYTHING, select Edit--> Set selection start, then
move the bar to the end of the film and select Edit --> Set selection
end. If you have done everything correctly, the second part of the film
will be
highlighted.
If you wish to cut the last part of the film where the credits are, all
you have to do is to place the bar a few minutes before the end of the
video (and do remember to click on the yellow key BEFORE selecting Edit
--> Selection end.
8) Go to File --> Save as .avi and save the second part of the video.
You have completed your task!!!
As you can see, the procedure is fairly simple, and hopefully you'll
have become more familiar with VDM(which, in my opinion, is for certain
things just as good if not even better than some programmes that cost
thousands of dollars!!!). If you really enjoy this sort of things, you
can also play around with otherfunctions
within the program, such as anticipating or delaying the audio and so
on.
However, things may at time not run smoothly. You may be unable to cut
your film in the following circumstances:
1) The original divx has some errors: in this case it is a real problem.
Unless you have several hours
(and the necessary knowledge) to fix it, leave it.
2) More frequently, they have used a codec which is different from the
the mp3 for the audio.
If the audio codec is AC3 always use VDM. Select: Audio --> AC3 Audio
(if you have AC3 audio)
If the Codec is Ogg Vorbis (which is probably at present the best audio
codec for divx but also, unfortunately, the most incompatible), use
OggCutter. It is very easy, even more than VDM.
Load the file (a window will appear when you click on Open. Go to the
bottom and select 'All Files' otherwiseyou won't be able to find your
film).
Then go to the bottom of the window where you can see some sort of
inverted 'T'. This is used to indicate the beggining and the end of the
part you want to save.
Whan you save, remember that OggCutter does not save with the ending
.avi. Therefore, you'll have to rename the file later on (unless you'd
rather leave the pre-defined ending).
If you follow all these simple instructions, you should be able to cut
videos as much and as often as you like!!!
