Quality to consider before purchasing one |
A low quality CD (and even more so a low quality DVD) has 2 main
shortcomings compared to high quality CDs and DVDs:
1) less protection against scratches (and therefore it is very easy
to damage them in a way that one day they will stop working)
2) they make the burner work much harder (thus shortening the
lifespan of our Cd or DVD burner)
Therefore, the advantages of a high quality support are that you
will minimise the chance of losing important files/data stored on
your CDs/DVDs and at the same time you will prolong the burners
lifespan.
Also remember that the lower the burning speed, the more the quality
approximates perfection. To achieve the best results, always use a
low or intermediate burning speed (e.g. 8x for data and 1x for
audio). The writing quality of a CD or DVD already written can be
checked with the use of applications such as Nero CD-DVD Speed (with
the typical green, yellow and red dots). |
