UPS

What they do
Protect the pc from sudden changes in electricity flow and keep it going should the electricity go away (allowing you to switch the computer off properly).

Quality to consider before purchasing one
UPS is a component that is often undervalued, but which prevents in many cases several components within the computer to break. Unfotunately a good quality UPS is rather expensive, and people can appreciate its importance only after several parts of the pc have broken (as for instance after a bad storm...).

The factors to consider are the level of protection that they provide, the presence of useful accessories (such as protection for the telephone and ADSL line, which is an important thing to have), and whether or not they have long-lasting batteries. There are two types of outlets: filtered outlets that are powered and protected in real time from brownouts and overvoltage, and outlets that are only powered, which continue to provide electricity even when the main electricity in the building goes out.
The cost of a good quality UPS varies according to power (expressed in VA: 150 VA more or less correspond to 100 W). For example, the cost of a good 800 VA UPS (about 550 W) is approximately 220 Euros.
Brands to keep in mind (buy power supply )
Brands to consider are essentially two:

1) Tecnoware (high technological level made in Italy, good quality and expensive)

2) APC (slightly inferior technological level compared to Tecnoware, lots of accessories, the most popular in the world)
